babies

embryos walking
around with the umbilical
cord hidden beneath their
thick, garish make up
small and fragile they appear
uncouth and savage they speak
but deep down a vulnerability
comes to the surface.
older than what they are
wasting their youth
uglier than what they are
wanting the pleasures of life
but getting the grotesque
realities that come with it
they are the under age
ones that have forgotten
about fairy tales and
